What does a kitchen renovation cost in 2026?
All guide prices in one place: complete renovation, fitting a purchased kitchen, fronts and worktop, appliances — plus the factors that decide where your job lands in the band.
A complete kitchen renovation in 2026 costs on average € 8,000 to € 25,000. That wide band is not vagueness but the nature of the job: a straight kitchen with the same layout and standard fronts sits at the bottom, a large L-shaped or island kitchen with a new layout and a stone worktop at the top. Watch what is and is not in a quote — removal, disposal of the old kitchen, connection work and sealing make the difference on the final invoice.
The biggest price driver is moving connections. If the sink and hob stay where they are, the fitter reuses the existing water, drainage and electrical points. If the sink moves to the island or the hob to another wall, that means extra chasing, demolition and installation work — and in older homes, renewing outdated connections often comes on top.
If you have already bought a kitchen yourself, fitting or installation is its own, much smaller job: € 1,500 to € 4,000 per kitchen, whether it is a flat-pack or a showroom kitchen. Targeted renewal has its own bands too: replacing fronts and worktop costs € 1,500 to € 6,000, replacing built-in appliances € 200 to € 800 per appliance and kitchen lighting or a small electrical adjustment € 300 to € 900.
Request several quotes and set them against the price index. Don't blindly pick the lowest: check whether removal, disposal and connecting the appliances are included, and whether there is one point of contact for the whole job. The cheapest quote without those items is rarely the cheapest on the final invoice.
